Eliisa Tuisku (b. 1976) lives and works in Siuntio. In her paintings, Tuisku combines semi-figurative visual elements with expressive and lyrical abstraction.
The artist’s primary techniques include acrylic and oil pastel on canvas and paper, as well as collage. Tuisku’s work is characterized by the use of a palette knife, expressive line painting, and layering. She layers and scrapes the paint material to make the passage of time and a sense of presence visible through texture and roughness.
A constant renewal of expression is central to Tuisku’s process. Her paintings are “meditation fetishes”; the artist hopes to speak to the viewer on a spiritual level—offering them an experience of joy and rest.
In addition to the collections of the Finnish National Gallery and the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art, the artist’s works are represented in numerous public and private collections.
